Clinical Indications Although HLA B27 is present in approximately 10% of the normal population, it if found in 88-96% of patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). It is also associated with other rheumatological disorders, including Reiter's syndrome and is a strong diagnostic indicator for AS. A positive result indicates the presence of this antigen.
