Test Background
Insulin antibodies can be a cause of resistance to insulin and are highly specific.


Clinical Indications

  • Differential diagnosis of type II diabetes mellitus (DM) and LADA (latent autoimmune diabetes in adults)
  • Screening of first degree relatives for risk of developing insulin-dependent DM (IDDM)
  • May also be used to determine the risk of IDDM in gestational diabetes
