Insulin antibodies can be a cause of resistance to insulin and are highly specific.


Clinical Indications
Differential diagnosis of type II diabetes mellitus (DM) and LADA (latent autoimmune diabetes in adults) Screening of first degree relatives for risk of developing insulin-dependent DM (IDDM) May also be used to determine the risk of IDDM in gestational diabetes
