HLA-B*27 Typing


Clinical Indications
Although HLA-B27 is present in approximately 10 % of the normal population, it is found in 88-96 % of patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). It is also associated with other rheumatological disorders, including Reiter's syndrome, and is a strong diagnostic indicator for AS. A positive result indicates the presence of this antigen.
