PTH rP is a fetal peptide closely related to PTH which maintains the fetus hypercalcaemic to the mother. It is occasionally produced by tumours and can be a cause of hypercalcaemia of malignancy.
Unexplained hypercalcaemia, particularly in patients with known carcinomas.

Not currently performed in house; this is a referred test. Patient must have had PTH measured before.
