Test Background
An adjunct to the diagnosis of extra-intestinal amoebiasis, especially liver abscesses.


Clinical Indications
E. histolytica is usually the causative organism. If the parasite reaches the bloodstream it can spread through the body, most frequently ending up in the liver where it causes amoebic liver abscesses.
